Keep up with us on our six month adventure to the other side of the world. We may have very well lost our minds, but that won't keep this from being the trip of a lifetime. We hope you'll join us!
POHUTU GEYSER

After our time in Tongariro National Park, we temporarily parted ways with Burton and Sarah while they took June back to Auckland to catch a flight. We headed over to Rotorua, which is one of, if not the biggest tourist attractions in New Zealand. Rotorua is known for its geothermal activity, with a number of geysers, notably the Pohutu Geyser (which can reach up to 90FT) at Whakarewarewa, and hot bubbling mud pools.

Except for a little bit of rain and the inevitable smell of sulfur permeating the air, it was a stop well worth making. We spent the majority of our time there at Te Puia checking out the Pohutu Geyser, some great bubbling mud pools and taking in a Maori cultural show. Jenny and I even got to participate, her learning the Poi (a dance twirling balls on the end of strings) and me taking a stab at the infamous Haka. We even got to see our first live Kiwi there as well, even if it was in captivity. I was seriously starting to doubt their existence.
