Keep up with us on our six month adventure to the other side of the world. We may have very well lost our minds, but that won't keep this from being the trip of a lifetime. We hope you'll join us!
HOT WATER BEACH

After the quick stop off for wine tasting, we headed over to Hot Water Beach which is unique in that it has a geothermal hot spring filtering up beneath the surface. Simply put, it is a beach where you can dig your own hot tub right in the sand. The temperature can vary significantly in just a few feet, some barely warm and some too hot to touch, but once you find the right spot it is heavenly. The one unfortunate thing about this natural phenomenon is that you can only enjoy it during low tide. We learned this lesson all too well when a nice big cold wave let us know we had overstayed our welcome and washed us out of our nice little hole.

From there we moved on up to the northern tip of the Coromandel Peninsula to a great little hostel on the beach called Black Jacks which came highly recommended by our friends Craig and Kristin back in Auckland. We’ve had a relaxing few days here with some good friends, good food and beautiful beaches. Tomorrow, it’s off to Auckland yet again where we drop off our friends and begin the sad task of finding a new owner for Sir Emerald. Somehow we’ve dwindled down to under two weeks left in this amazing country.
