THE LAST WALK With the car sold, we were left with a few more days in New Zealand but plenty of piece of mind. Our friend Craig, who has generously put us up for our last few nights, took us out for a farewell hike in Piha, on the coast west of Auckland. We met up with his buddies Duncan and Justine and got a taste of what tramping with locals is really like. It was great to get off the beaten path and blaze some trails of our own for once, and it didn’t hurt that we were surrounded by gorgeous cliffs and a beautiful coast the entire time. It was a fantastic way to get out of the city for a bit and say a proper goodbye to the New Zealand wilderness.
