JADE MARKET
We also spent a day at the jade market in Kowloon, one of Jenny and her mom’s favorite places from their time here. I thought the city itself was overwhelming, but it’s got nothing on this place. Row after row after row of jewelry and statues and various other trinkets seem to go on forever and not a single vendor willing to let you pass by. You get pushed and pulled in every direction with necklaces and stones stuck in your face and numbers going back and forth. I’m glad I went and glad I saw it, but I think I’d prefer to leave the jade shopping to Jenny and her mom from now on. The market’s saving grace for me, however, was my first “War Eagle” in 4 months. I spotted an Auburn shirt down one of the aisles and got to talk football a bit with a couple fellow alumni. It made my day.
After the market, we headed back up to the peak for some different nighttime views of the city. This place at night has really grown on me.
